Teatro La Fenice 2026

One of the world’s great opera houses

Teatro La Fenice — “the Phoenix” — is one of the most famous and most beautiful opera houses in the world. Opened in 1792, it has risen from fire three times, most recently after the blaze of 1996, reopening in 2003 restored to its original eighteenth-century splendour. Its stage gave the world the premieres of Verdi’s Rigoletto and La Traviata, and it remains the beating heart of opera in Venice.

Today La Fenice hosts a full season of opera, ballet and orchestral music — from Puccini and Verdi to the celebrated New Year’s Concert broadcast live across Europe. Browse everything currently scheduled below and choose the night that best fits your visit to the floating city.

Finding Teatro La Fenice

Getting there is part of the magic: Venice has no cars, so you arrive on foot or by vaporetto (water bus). The nearest stops are Santa Maria del Giglio and Rialto, both a short walk through the lanes from Piazza San Marco. Allow a little extra time — half the pleasure is getting gently lost in Venice on the way to the theatre.
