Venice is the only major European city where you reach the stadium by boat or on foot. That shapes the matchday: there is no car park, no coach drop-off and no last-minute dash — plan the journey the way you would plan a vaporetto ride, with time to spare.

Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo

Opened in 1913 on the island of Sant’Elena, the Penzo is Venice’s largest sports venue and one of the oldest grounds in Italy still in use. Recent upgrades brought it to a capacity of 12,048, which makes it one of the smallest in the Italian top flight and one of the closest to the pitch.

It is reached by vaporetto — Line 1 and the circular routes 4.1/4.2 and 5.1/5.2 all stop nearby — or on foot along the waterfront from St Mark’s Square, about half an hour at a walking pace.
