Concerts in Venice
Venice packs its concert life into a handful of rooms, and the character of the evening depends as much on the room as on the programme. This page gathers the concerts currently on sale across the city, from Baroque evenings in a frescoed confraternity hall to symphonic and open-air events.
Dates are shown in local Venice time. There is no vehicle access anywhere in the historic centre, so every venue below is reached by vaporetto or on foot.
Where concerts happen in Venice
Teatro La Fenice — the city’s principal opera house, on Campo San Fantin, carrying the opera, ballet and symphonic seasons.
Teatro Malibran — one of Venice’s oldest theatres and the second stage of La Fenice, near the Rialto.
Scuola Grande di San Teodoro — a Baroque confraternity hall on Campo San Salvador, home since 1999 to I Musici Veneziani, who play Vivaldi in costume of the eighteenth century.
Piazza San Marco — the square itself, used for open-air events.
Concert tickets in Venice — frequently asked questions
How do I get to the venue? On foot or by vaporetto. No cars, taxis or coaches reach the historic centre, so allow more time than the map suggests — the lanes are easy to lose.
Are the halls large? No, and that is the point. La Fenice seats around 1,000; the Scuola Grande di San Teodoro is smaller still. Most seats are close to the players.
What time do concerts start? It varies by programme. Each concert page shows its own start time, in local Venice time.
More to see in Venice
Alongside the concert programme, Venezia FC play their home matches at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo, on the island of Sant’Elena — a ground reached, like everything else here, by boat or on foot.
