New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day at La Fenice

The concert is presented four times across the final days of December and the morning of January 1:

December 29 at 8:00 PM is the opening performance and a convenient choice for visitors arriving in Venice before New Year’s Eve.

December 30 at 5:00 PM offers an early-evening concert, leaving the rest of the night free to enjoy Venice.

December 31 at 4:00 PM allows audiences to attend La Fenice before continuing their New Year’s Eve celebrations elsewhere in the city.

January 1 at 11:15 AM is the traditional New Year’s Day performance and is expected to attract particularly strong demand. Purchases for this date are limited to four seats per buyer through the theatre’s primary sale.

Gianandrea Noseda conducts La Fenice

The 2027 edition will be conducted by Gianandrea Noseda, leading the Orchestra and Choir of Teatro La Fenice.

The New Year’s Concert has traditionally combined symphonic music with selections from the Italian operatic repertoire. Previous editions have followed a two-part format, beginning with orchestral music before moving into arias, duets and major choral passages. The complete programme and vocal soloists for the 2027 edition have not yet been announced.

This combination of orchestral and operatic music makes the event accessible both to experienced classical audiences and to visitors attending La Fenice for the first time.

A New Year tradition in Venice

The New Year’s Concert has become one of Teatro La Fenice’s most popular annual events. The previous edition sold out all performances at the theatre, demonstrating the level of demand generated by this festive programme.

Attending the concert also provides the opportunity to see the historic auditorium during one of the most atmospheric periods of the Venetian calendar. Its ornate boxes, richly decorated interior and intimate dimensions create a very different experience from a large modern concert hall.

Choosing seats at Teatro La Fenice

Available seating may include the stalls, royal box, numbered boxes and upper gallery levels.

The stalls provide a direct central view of the stage, while the historic boxes offer a more traditional La Fenice experience. Visibility from boxes can vary according to the seat’s position, particularly from lateral sections, so the selected category should be considered carefully.

For the best combination of stage visibility and acoustics, central stalls and centrally positioned boxes are usually the most desirable options.
